Missions

OENOVITI INTERNATIONAL is a network organization of International institutions
for Higher Education and Research in Oenology & Viticulture.

A new generation of oenologists/viticulturists is needed, one capable of integrating information across different areas of research, from grape production with sustainable, integrated and/or organic viticulture, pests and diseases, genetic diversity and biodiversity (vines, yeast and bacteria), molecular genetics to secondary metabolites influencing grape and wine quality. Adapted analytical methods for the identification and quantification of key components as well as new oenological practices including biotechnology, safety and health issues during wine production and consumption in the context of nutritional and social aspects also need to be considered. This new generation of scientists needs to work within integrated networks, with strong relationships.

The network is dedicated to Research Excellence and Education. Each partner possess the top recognition level in Oenology/viticulture. Its forms the largest oenology/viticulture research community gathered in the world.

Events

The OENOVITI International network organizes General assemblies twice a year; these events gather all its members to discuss joint trainings and research projects in workgroups. They are usually preceded by a symposium on a specific topic chosen by the network members.

May 2016:
The University of Bordeaux (ISVV) will host the next OENOVITI Symposium and General Assembly, respectively on May 10 and 11, 2016.
This year's symposium will deal with:

"Processes, oenological practices, packaging : wine quality evolution and future, consumers perception".

October 2015:
The University of Padova (Italy), will organise the next OENOVITI International symposium and general assembly from the 26th to the 28th October 2015. These events will be held in Conegliano (close to Venice)

The 8th General Assembly will be during one and half day on the 27th and 28th October 2015. (Download the draft programme of the general assembly).
The topic of the 4th symposium, which will be held on the 26th of October, is "Non-conventional microorganism in wine making".  (Download the draft programme of the symposium).
This Symposium is supported by the Padova University and LALLEMAND.

Registrations will be on the 13th October.

May 2015:

3rd Scientific Symposium and 7th General Assembly - 20-21-22 May - IRTA (Spain).
The 3rd Scientific Symposium on "Cava Challenges 2015 - Sparkling wine" took place in the area of Sant SadurnĂ d'Anoia, 40 km at the south of Barcelona. (Download the programme)

Technical approaches, foam quality and second fermentation for sparkling wines; impact of climate changes, quality sensory evolution, yeast selection on sparkling production and gushing control are the focus of this third OENOVITI International symposium.

The 7th General Assembly of the OENOVITI International and OENODOC networks took place from 21 to 22 May 2015 at the  IRTA Torre Marimon center, is placed in Caldes de Montbui, 25 km northen than Barcelona.

Members of the network coming from Australia, Argentina, Slovenia, Croatia, Turkey, France, Switzerland, Italy, South Africa, Georgia, Germany, and Spain gathered during one and half days to speak and share on the current challenges and opportunities for the oenology and viticulture sector.
